Alliance Academy for Innovation is a new, career based high school that opened in August of 2018. The school is located in Cumming and is part of the Forsyth County school district. Students that attend Alliance had to submit an application in hopes to be accepted to study at the STEM school, however since there are no sports at Alliance, the attending students have given up a valuable high school experience. In order to grant these students this experience the question is asked, "Why can't these students participate in sports with the school in the district of which they live?". In my opinion it is completely possible for that to happen and my goal is to achieve that as an option for students.
Rising high school students across the county are given the option of applying to this unique school, although many may be deterred due to the lack of sports that this school posses. In addition many students who have studied at Alliance for one school year are planning on returning to their home schools (the high school of the district they live in) in order to take part in high school sports teams. With the ability to participate in sports while receiving the exclusive career based education, more students will be inclined to apply and/or return to Alliance in future school years.
For those who are athletically inclined, participating in high school sports can be an important part of their education. Not only are high school sports an enjoyable pastime, participation in sports builds friendships and teaches students discipline, teamwork, time-management, and determination. When applying to college, students who have participated in high school sports are at an advantage since colleges see those students as well rounded.
By signing this petition you will helping to make difference in the lives of the students at Alliance Academy for Innovation. Your signature can help grow the student body size of the school and give students an experience that will teach them valuable live skills and help them get into college. Many students currently attending Alliance and students who are considering applying will be very grateful for you signature.
