AK Owners for 5.45x39 Magpul AK Magazines

The ownership of AK rifles chambered in 5.45x39mm continues to rise as the 5.45x39mm round remains affordable in comparison to other rifle calibers.

However, the availability of high quality, U.S. magazines is non-existent. Owners of the AK platform chambered in 5.45x39mm are limited to the use of expensive, and hard to come by military surplus magazines made in a foreign country, or other commercial magazines which lack much needed metal reinforcements. They also suffer from lower quality polymer.

The need for an affordable, domestically made, and high quality AK magazine for the 5.45x39mm round is higher than it has been before. Most owners are not willing to pay $40-$50 for a surplus mag, especially when some need to replace parts for 922(r) compliance.

Owners of the AK platform chambered in 5.45x39mm need a high quality, U.S. made, polymer magazine for their rifles. This magazine needs to be made of the same polymer, or an improved polymer of current Magpul M3 Pmags for the AR15 platform. They also need metal reinforced feed lips and locking lugs. Reinforced ribbing is also desirable. The floorplate must be removable for cleaning. The magazine also must be affordable in comparison to military surplus, between $15 and $25 for the end user, if at all possible.
