Thank you all for your support. The Director of Recreation has notified us that swamp coolers have been ordered and will be arriving soon. We will continue to work hand in hand with the City of Baldwin Park Department of Recreation and Community Services in accomplishing the same goals through grants, fundraising, etc.
Several Recreational programs work out of the Esther Sneider Community Center.
The heat in the summer time is overwhelming and at times dangerous for those participating and/or viewing sports activities and/or special events.
With no fans, swamp coolers and minimal air circulation the athletes are fatigued and dehydrated.
We, the undersigned, call on the City of Baldwin Park, CA to recognize that the Esther Snyder Community Center is their highest used facility in the department of recreation, that throughout each year the gymnasium is used for numerous recreational classes, camps, special events and rentals, that the extreme heat in the summertime without fans, swamp coolers or sufficient air circulation causes the athletes and spectators to fatigue and become dehydrated, and that the city will commit to immediately:
* assign the highest priority to the Esther Snyder Community Center and the necessary budget to ensure that central air conditioning will be installed in the gymnasium by the summer of 2009 and continuously maintained thereafter.
