Adelaide Hills Council (AHC) Mobile Library Closure Petition

We the undersigned residents of the Adelaide Hills Council, and the students and staff of the schools within this council area, express grave concern at the proposal to reduce or close the Mobile Library Service.

This service provides:
• an invaluable resource to aid school students in their learning;
• a friendly, responsive local environment for hills children to learn about public services and libraries;
• a publically accessible face for all Council services;
• access to library and council resources in areas where no public transport is available;
• a means for the aged and disabled to more easily access library materials;
• a demonstration of Council’s commitment to provide outreach services; and
• a reduction in greenhouse gases by enabling residents and ratepayers to access services without having to drive.

We call on the Council to commit to:

• Maintain the Mobile Library Service at its current service level for at least the term of the currently elected Council; and
• Conduct widespread community consultation if any material changes to the current services levels are proposed.
