On the 3rd March 2011, the people of Wales voted YES in a referendum to grant the Welsh Government additional powers to legislate in twenty devolved areas without being granted permission by the House of Commons and the Lords.
This means that the workload of the Office of Secretary of State has been vastly reduced to such an extent as to question its viability as a cost effective and efficient service to the people of Wales.
Secondly, the change in constitutional arrangements between Wales and the UK Government indicates the need for a change in relationships with direct contact between the two Executive bodies rather than through the bureaucratic 'middle person' as the Welsh Office now is.
We the undersigned call for the abolition of the Welsh Office and the Secretary of State for Wales and that the remaining responsibilities of the Office are transferred to the Welsh Government.
