Craig Decker and (now deceased) Mike Gribble have promoted, debuted and repeatedly exhibited the very first or early animated films of some of Hollywood's biggest filmmakers: John Lasseter, Tim Burton, Brad Bird, Mike Judge, Trey Parker and Matt Stone, Nick Park to name a few. Tim Burton told Craig Decker that he "owed the start of his film career" to the Animation Festival he and Mike Gribble pioneered over 40 years prior.
Craig and Mike did this as an avocation of love for animation art and received little in return monetarily. Their tireless work helped elevate animation to both a major and higher [perhaps even sometimes lower too] art form.
It is time The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) officially recognize Spike and Mike for their enormously significant contribution to history of cinema and award Craig Decker and (posthumously) Mike Gribble each a special Oscar for their lifetime achievement.
We, the undersigned, call upon The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to award Craig Decker and Mike Gribble a special Academy Award for their lifetime contributions to the Art of Animation: to be presented at the 88th Annual Academy Awards on February 28, 2016!
