We have heard from the Barbershop Harmony Society. We have heard from Harmony Foundation International. Now we ask that both sit down in the same room, and hear each other.
We reject the idea of having two separate fundraising organizations supporting the same art form. It is a waste of resources and money you don't have in an attempt to duplicate an already functioning fundraising function. And the end result is likely to be less money in total donated to support barbershop harmony. For those of us who don’t want to take sides, you have left us with an unsolvable dilemma and you leave both agencies with a potential loss of support and revenue.
We ask that you work together to identify the activities and programs we can afford to pursue at this time and identify temporary, short term steps HFI can take to get us through the financial impact of the pandemic crisis.
The BHS and HFI both care about singing and promoting barbershop harmony, so please don’t ask us to decide who can do that best. Get together and work it out so that we members can focus on chapter and district activities, as we are already struggling to keep our chapters viable in the face of the current virus situation.
