The second amendment should never "...be subject to reasonable regulation" in the same way the other amendments shouldn't be also. It is outlandish to believe that the second amendment is for "sporting purposes" when it clearly states that a "well regulated militia" is "necessary for the security of a free state". This is precisely the reason for the founding fathers stating "the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed".
The founding fathers knew well that armed citizens were the only real guarantee we have of liberty. The American Revolution didn't truly begin until efforts were made by the British to disarm the colonists.
The answer to crimes and mass shootings will never be to limit those who obey the law. History itself tells us that armed citizens have been the deterrent of foreign invasions on U.S. soil. Isoroku Yamamoto said as much when the Japanese were planning an invasion of the U.S. in 1941.
We the undersigned are seriously concerned over the efforts of legislators to register, ban, or limit the sale and use of ALL types of firearms. We believe the only logical outcome of registering any firearm is to establish official records for future confiscation.
Furthermore, as firm supporters of the U.S. Constitution, we find it disheartening that the core values and freedoms protected by the Constitution would even be up for questioning or debate; especially when those freedoms are being challenged by those sworn to protect them. We love our country as surely as you do, so as a fellow citizens and patriots we truly hope you will vote/veto these freedom limiting bills down when they are presented to the floor, with the understanding that criminals have no respect for any gun control laws no matter how many are passed.
We the undersigned respectfully request the Senate and House of Representatives along with the White House to fulfill their oaths of office to "protect and defend the U.S. Constitution against all enemies foreign and domestic". This includes any effort of legislators to infringe on the Second Amendment right of the people "to keep and bear arms".
We also request that the Executive and Legislative branches join the U.S. Supreme Court in recognizing the fact that the Second Amendment is an individual freedom, and consequently stop all efforts to impose gun bans and magazine/ammuniton restrictions on law abiding citizens.
