5 Azerbaijani Political prisoners' lives are in danger in Iran

Currently, Leaders of “Yeni Gamoh” (New South Azerbaijan National Awakening Movement) organization Latif Hasani, Mahmoud Fazli, Ayat Mehralibeyglu, Behboud Gholizadeh and Shahram Radmehr have sentenced for nine years prison by the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Court. These people are charged on "violation of national security and carrying out anti-government propaganda activities".

They have started hunger strike since 13th July 2013 in Iran’ Azerbaijan in Tabriz prison as a sign of protest to the confirmation of sentence made against them by the Tabriz Islamic Revolutionary Court and inconsideration of their solicitors’ appeal in the trial court”, said by the prisoner’s family to trend news.

The trial court of Tabriz Islamic Revolutionary (branch 6) reconfirmed the verdict that issued by the initial court in 6th June 2013 and ignored reconsideration of appeals. According to the reports leaders of “Yeni Gamoh” organization were arrested by Iranian Intelligence Service (ITTILAAT) in January 2013. They have been under regular and severe investigation for several months and all were sent to the Tabriz central prison later on. They also, regularly have been imprisoned and tortured by Iranian regime in the past.

It is said that they life in danger as a results of hunger strike. Shahram Radmehr suffers from severe migraine and Latif Hasni has a serious heart problem as he had heart attack as a result of torture inflicted during previous periods of detention. Mahmoud Fazli has Gallbladder problem as he is a veteran of Iran-Iraq war who had an operation. Behboud Gholizadeh has prostate issue and Ayat Mehralibeglou is struggling with stomach problem and backache.

Their families are forbidden to visit them by "Iranian intelligence service". Recently, they have had a phone contact and were told by Tabriz Prison authorities that the prisoners were transferred to “Evin” prison in Tehran. However, it is said that Evin Prison refused to accept them as they were in hunger strike and their health were not in normal condition.

Now nobody knows where they are and their lives are seriously in danger and critical situation. We refer to human rights activists and organizations to inform other related organizations in order to condemn Iranian regime, ask to release them, provide sufficient aids regarding their health situation.
