227 MACKAY "rejuvenation" is a MAJOR REBUILD requiring MAJOR VARIANCES that will have negative results.
There is a complete disregard for the HISTORIC OVERLAY and recommendations set forth by the city on behalf of taxpayers and neighbourhoods - it is being blatantly trounced upon.
The MAJOR VARIANCES requested are COMPLETELY OUTSIDE the parameters set forth in the HISTORICAL OVERLAY put into place to protect the character of our neighbourhood.
A 41 foot wall, inches away from neighbours' decks, and eaves 6 inches away from the lot line and decks which will all but ELIMINATE SUNLIGHT and AIR CIRCULATION for many households.
This extreme closeness also bring with it enormous SAFETY and maintenance CONCERNS.
Help us SAY NO to the MAJOR VARIANCES and KEEP OUR NEIGHBOURHOOD HISTORIC and VITAL, MOVING FORWARD with MINDFULNESS and COMPASSION.
We the undersigned call upon the CONCERNED NEIGHBOURS and FRIENDS of NEW EDINBURGH to STAND WITH US and not allow the MAJOR VARIANCES requested for the rebuilding of 227 MacKay Street.
1. Keep New Edinburgh historical and relevant within the guidelines set out in the HERITAGE OVERLAY.
2. ACKNOWLEDGE and RESPECT these guidelines set forth to protect everyone living in our neighbourhood.
3. STOP the SUBURBANIZATION of New Edinburgh with large OPPRESSIVE STRUCTURES disregarding neighbours and quality of life in our historic neighbourhood setting.
