This story is factual and 100% true. I was 10 yrs. old when this rescue occured. My respect for my uncle John was one of the reasons that I chose to enlist in the United States Navy. I hope that the Coast Guard rectifes this situation, after all it was the brave men of the Coast Guard who actually saved this little girl from drowning.
