We condemn in bitter most terms the brutal lathi-charge by Delhi Police on peaceful assembly of girls and boys, men and women and young and old – who chose to demand what has been guaranteed to them as fundamental right under the Constitution.
The arrival of 2013 is not an ordinary arrival, and therefore, the resolution we make TODAY is not an ordinary resolution.
We are gravely concerned about the prevailing lawlessness around us coupled with the most deplorable display of sheer indifference, apathy and absence of sensitivity on the part of the present government.
Hence, we resolve NOT to celebrate the new year.
We resolve NOT to celebrate 26th January.
We resolve to make our fight for our right a stronger fight.
We resolve to move one and all … oceans and mountains … heaven and earth … till the government sits up and declares in clear, unequivocal terms Zero Tolerance for Crimes Against Women, and makes that Declaration meaningful and effective by introduction of required amendments in law, procedures and execution.
