It's become their social life. All the dogs and owners are well behaved. Domestic dogs need these types of places to learn social skills and stay balanced. My dogs and I love this place. I have never seen a dog harm any wildlife. I understand just their scent can deter native animals but I believe in this park there is a nice balance. The dogs use a few swimming holes on the big lake, not the smaller lake. I keep my dogs out of the reeds.

Not once during this time have I witnessed dogs disrupting the natural setting of the basin and its surrounds. People who walk their dogs, both on and off lead, are responsible in terms of the environment and fellow walkers.
It saddens and angers me that the majority of this beautiful parkland, that so many locals have enjoyed for many years, will be off limits.

The public should be adequately consulted on what changes are to be made to this peaceful and quiet haven. The park always has a minimum of 2 others engaged in the same activity, and I tend to go at very quiet times avoiding the peek times where there can be more than ten cars parked in the carpark. It enables me to provide quality care for the dog who is a large dog and needs to be able to exercise freely. The inadequate consultation time given to the public who regularly use this area is thoughtless and discriminatory and must be addressed.

The new plan for the Retarding Basin is completely Bias towards the public and recreational use of the park & in particular , Dog walking. If the new changes come into effect I think it will turn the park into an isaw. (A chain link fence stretching all the way around the lake and wetlands) What a waist of money! This is not what I voted for!
