This entire city is a landmark and an international icon. I understand cost is involved in lighting the Hollywood sign, but I see no reason why we shouldn't invest in it to demonstrate our pride--the place we call home, and to glorify the icon that signifies the american dream. What if we decided not to light the statue of liberty at night? The golden gate bridge? The Washington Monument? Our sign IS historically significant!

I have live here in Ca. for 20yrs., and coming from Texas the Hollywood Sign was one of the attractions. I really feel that this would enhance the Hollywood area as it was meant to do, since the sign was erected in 1923. Please replace the lights.

If every L.A. resident agreed to have $1 added to their taxes this year, that would fund the project with close to 10 million dollars. I don't even know if we'd need that much. With all the innovation and technology we have today, there's gotta be a way to light the sign so it will be energy efficient (solar panels) and won't disturb the residents in the area. We could use LED's or something. This entire project would create lots of jobs!
