Existing power generation cannot just be turned on or off quickly just because of a shortage of supply from Wind power.
Destruction of peat bogs, areas of natural beauty in the Highlands and Lowlands means you can not travel almost anywhere with out seeing the turbines ruining the view.
The are now as many studies that prove as disprove that in the life time a turbine, it creates more CO2 as it saves.
I believe that so many people are making so much money out of the installation and production not even counting the grants from the Government and the SNP ruling power in Scotland can not be seen to do a U-Turn in-favour of a different form of power. In my view if you want to have renewable's Hydro and tidal power are the types we should be investing in.
Tidal due to the knowledge that the tides will always follow a timetable and in scotland we have one of the longest coastlines for size of land mass in the world.

It is a well know fact that most onshore wind farms do not produce nearly the level of electricity cited in the brochures - much like the mpg on a new car! Great at the begining but unproven with age/use. They may have their place (in the middle of nowhere) but not in our populated countryside blighting the most important part of our landscapes - the views!And being of no benefit to the surrounding residents....... I could rant on, but all comments have been before & will continue till we get this "juggernaut" under control!
