It took me a week to cool off before I was able to compose a collected and coherent account of the great contribution WNTI made to our region benefitting our local musical talents and events, businesses and serious music lovers who depend on the DJs for music identification and back stories. I directed my comments to Centenary College via the old WNTI Facebook page which announced the change and which, I guess, is the new WNTI page. I'm confused and want to know how to help this cause. I felt a real connection to the DJs and just the gestalt of this very positive and life-affirming station and am still grieving this loss. How else can I be connected to the old NTI to permit me to be knowledgable of any opportunity to fix this disaster.

Yeah, we're still out here. Real people....the ones that love the stories and conversation on the air. The ones who love to hear something the DJ is excited about playing. The matter of fact kind of talk that echoes our own thoughts and experiences. This is a huge mistake. You've separated us from a large family. The DJs worked hard to provide their fans with information that connected us to local events and artists. They worked hard to put together the best events in this area. They were open to calls, emails and chats at these events. Greatest group of people you'll never see the likes of again. It's a shame to end an era of real music with real DJs not programmed by pre-determined music. No spontaneity; no on air laughter. You just killed the last good thing about having a radio.

You propose to teach the youth of this country the value of culture, and when faced with the choice, you have chosen, just like typical corporations, to choose money instead. What kind of message is this sending? You are supposed to be educators. Try not to forget that. Instead of selling the license, you should be moving full steam ahead, showing the students what can happen with dedication, hard work, talent, and the backing of a benevolent board of trustees can accomplish. WNTI could become bigger and stronger, and probably net you more money in the end. WNTI should be the crown jewel of your college. Your response to the offer should have, and must be: "It's not for sale."

The variety of music played has far surpassed other NPR stations and naturally commercial radio and at times even educational. We've also enjoyed the fact that WNTI has kept us informed on local events and local and regional music acts that we would have never been exposed to otherwise. I travel all over North America and Europe and I'm always proud to inform people about WNTI especially after hearing that many people i come in contact with have lost interest in their own local radio programming. How could Centenary College not appreciate the fact that WNTI positively promoted the college to a large group of people. It certainly made me more aware of what the college offered. Bring back WNTI and let the students have more air time. I know a student who majored in Communications and she told me that over the years, Spider Glenn taught the students so many things. This is a enormous loss to not only the WNTI listening community, but also the Centenary College students, alumni, administrators and faculty.
