When I was a full-time educator in 1998, and The Harris Government imposed an impersonal, education-jargon filled report card to match statements in the new curriculum, I was furious.<br />
This type of reporting is cold, clinical and devoid of empathy. There is little or no room for teachers to express the individuality or the uniqueness of each student.</p>]]></description>

We thought it was a joke. Well done Tom Sullivan- better communication between the ivory tower and teachers. The teachers disliked  the comments- but were of course, never consulted and worried for their jobs if considered critical of administration -ministry,but a retired one can! It is an exercise in frustration, and we literally cut and paste, and simply change the name and pronouns to &quot;personallize&quot; the comments for each student.  The only section of the report card which allows us to speak directly to the student and their ability and work habits etc is in the Learning Skills section.  We are limited however to a small, five line section.</p>]]></description>
