Also, there is something dreadfully wrong with the testing as I tested my son again with the same words, in the same way the teachers video tells them to test them and he got only 2 wrong!!! a single teachers judgement cannot be counted upon for countless reasons. In general, I feel it is wrong and a little cruel to TEST children at such a young age anyway!!!</p>]]></description>

These children have just started to read and write and develop at such different rates. Testing them will add huge amounts of stress, and show them that reading and school is about only about testing and performing like monkeys. I am concerned that the resulting over-emphasis of phonics in FS and Y1 will turn young children off reading, especially those who find the acquisition of basic literacy skills difficult.  Many children do not have role models at home presenting reading as an enjoyable and worthwhile pastime. This will not help them.</p>]]></description>

I believe it has the potential to seriously damage children&#039;s confidence in themselves as readers. The very nature of a test allows the person taking it the opportunity to fail.
