Mrs Maria Tyerman, Guisborough, United Kingdom
My mum and dad worked at Dounreay after my dad graduated from Strathclyde University. I was born in Dunbar Hospital in 1968. We lived at 24 St Olaf Road. I took my husband and 2 children to see Dounreay and the house we lived in until I was 2 in 2011. As a landmark it holds a very special place for our family and the generations to come.

Anonymous
It's important that the Dounreay Dome is saved, and preserved as a museum and monument to British scientific vision and genius. To demolish it would be a crime, and disrespectful to the pioneering efforts of the scientists and engineers who created it, and to the dedication of those employed there over the years. My father worked at DFR, right from the very early days, and was there when it reached criticality in 1959. I grew up with Dounreay, and would hate to see the Dome meet its doom!

Robin Clarke, Thurso, Caithness, United Kingdom
The Dome is part of Caithness' and Scottish history - even as an incomer to the area I understand its historical value.

I served the first year of my apprenticeship there - along with many others who benefitted from Dounreay's training schemes, so owe it my support for that at least.

Also if it has to be decontaminated before it can be dismantled, then why can't it be decontaminated and stay? Unless money is the answer, in which case lets look at other avenues of funding...

Mr Andrew Northern, Gravesend, Kent, United Kingdom
Britain's nuclear heritage for better or worse greatly affected it's position in the world and continues to do so. Dounreay stands as a symbol of this history and in destorying it we are committing a great injustice to future generations. Relics of the Cold War are seldom beautiful, their importance however is indisputable.
