Also overcrowding the remaining schools will result in fewer teacher/student interaction which can cause grades to suffer and cause more students to fall through the cracks. This isn't a solution to the problem, and it isn't in the best interests of the students, which should be top priority.

We need to look at the big picture. Better to keep middle schools open, include 6th graders, keep class size lower overall in order to pay more attention to students. We need more technology and should be spending our money in that direction and trim the fat elsewhere. Our children and our school system (which can attract families into our community and thereby increase tax revenue) should be a top value. Who wants to move here to have their children not educated and not safe. Increased school classes can potentially lead to overcrowding which could mean kids know each other less and more bullying can develop. Each teacher is more stressed and less able to teach their classes with patience. Is that what we want? Why is technology put on the back burner? Why is science NOT an academic in the elementary schools here? How can our students compete? Let's be reasonable and responsible. Let's be creative on how to handle this problem or has the reduction of arts and music created a society that is unable to think out of the box?

The more kids in classes, the more problems there will be. There wont be enough time for a one on one interaction with the teachers for a good education. One of the great things about Gorton is that we all have those one on one connections with all the teachers that work there. They all care. Many things will be drastically different, and not in a good way. The more people in a class, there won't be room for everyone on computers for classes like Graphic Arts, or even the Keyboarding class. It isn't fair for those kids next year to get those classes taken away. Also, bus rides will be longer, and unfortunately may not be as safe. Some kids have no choice but to walk home, so in the winter time the students will have to walk in the dark which parents don't agree with. Closing Gorton has more cons than pros. My sister was to go to Gorton next year, but she may not have that opportunity now because of this. She was looking forward to it as well because of the great things I've told her about Gorton. The teachers and the extra-curricular activities there are great. I hope the final decision that is made is well thought through and is for the best.

As a parent with 2 4th graders I do not care for the Aldrich in its entirety. While planning residency my research always begins with testing score in the districts I'm considering relocating my family too. Then I contact schools to inquire what amenities, extra curricular, and sports are available at their facilities. The city should had don't this at minimum. Had they it would have been obvious that Gorton has much more to offer. On a final note this past year my children attend an overly crowded halloween party at Aldrich junior high. Now I am all for education before socialization but in these early impressionable years as preteens I feel the two are very closely dependent of one another. Having attended Gorton as a child myself, I found events held at Gorton were most enjoyable and had plenty of mingling space. Another issue which throws sirens off in my mind is safety! Aldrich on a main road with One crossing guard is just out right dangerous. The students are crossing at a main intersection where a high traffic Walmart store parking lots is located. Gorton however is on a side street which greatly reduces safety concern

Please reconsider closing yet another school which will impact everyone. The schools that stay open will lose previous classes and funding and the students transferred will not benefit from all the moving. Every school you close just sits wasting space and getting damaged. It's a waste of resources and does not benefit the generation we are raising. They are a tough enough generation with the lack of parental support or discipline. Never mind now giving them larger classes and less attention from teacher or extra resources. What are we teaching them at that point.
