Shutting fully paid swimming pools down when the only issue is operating cost deficit is short-sighted and negative for fitness for our youth and all swimmers. As someone who as instructed and participated in school swim teams I know how beneficial this sport is, not only for sport but also competition, particularly through the long winter months that Toronto as always had. Instead of killing the school pools there should be more time spent on getting these pools available for the public.

Pool funding should be Ministry of Health issue, not TDSB or Ministry of Education problem.

Save our pool! The school swimming pool is important to me because that is where I learn how to swim. I've never swam before until I had to learn how to swim in my Grade 9 Gym class. I enjoyed it very much! If my school didn't had a pool, I doubt I would ever learn how to swim. If you're closing the pool, you're also closing doors to many people. Alot of the kids in my gym also didn't know how to swim but they learnt how to swim, in that same pool in our school. Please do not close the pools!

So much money is being poured into Student Success. It would seem to me that having students participate in swimming is directly tied to successful students. Keep our pools open - not for one or two years but forever

As a retired health & physical education teacher from Malvern Collegiate in the TDSB I know what an integral part the swim program is to a school. Many students benefit from the excellent swim program offered and acquire life long skills and memories. The swim instructors and coaches do a fabulous job teaching and coaching.

To consider squandering a resource that has been passed down to this generation based on petty politics is bordering on criminal! The education/life we are willing to provide for our children does not compare to what our parents offered us. They willingly paid taxes for the good of the whole. The greedy individualism of today has been exploited by politicians to provide for me, me, me, rather than us. Shame on all who support closing our pools.

As a high school swim coach, a former swim instructor/lifeguard and a tax paying citizen of Toronto I find the idea of closig the pools horrendous. You will deprive children of instruction that is crucial in a country with as much water as Canada. You will also greatly impact the phys ed curriculum, and extra curricular swim teams. Students on the teams train for months and work incredibly hard to be provincial champoins and represent Toronto with pride.

when one Toronto child dies from drowning this summer we should remind our political reps that they are responsible for the tragedy. They are child killers. Our unfit kids need activities to keep them from drugs and gangs Many people including myself use the pool to off set cost to the government on physio therapy. Millers election platform was for us to use the pools. I am fed up with paying on all three levels of government over 80 thousand dollars in taxes a year to see nothing in return.
