The bridge is part of an established historic district, there are dated records of the bridge from 1915 and I have heard there are documents that indicate that it could have been built as early as 1906. A structure within such a district should not be destroyed without public hearings.

I am asking City Council to please immediately pause this project and hold public hearings where residents can give input.

This includes a huge chunk of the ravine within a 100 foot public easement onto my property. It's literally in my front yard.

Although the City sent periodic written letters to a small select group of us in the project-zone telling us about a two-lane plan. I'm not sure how it went down for my neighbors, but City reps, in initial verbal conversations of concerns with me, assured plenty of time to voice opinion.

The City never invited me or anyone in the community, to my knowledge, of a public hearing on the matter. I wasn't even aware of critical planning, budget appropriation and federal approvals that had gone through until well after the fact.

I am vehemently opposed to the demolition and replacement of the bridge with an oversized two lane structure. There has been no public engagement. In 6 years we received two letters, neither inviting us to take part in public debate. The fact that the only notice of the project was published in a newspaper 240 miles away is outrageous.

As a prior Historic Preservation Commission member, I'm particularly concerned that the bridge, located within a city designated historic district, with bridge photos dated 1915, is being destroyed without a single public hearing.
