I only have respect for the parents and athletes willing to commit so much time to travel and making the extra effort to accommodate visiting teams. What I don't understand is how Hockey Alberta can think of eliminating established organizations (Sherwood Park & PAC incl.) when Ringette Alberta (which I was a board member for 4 years and still currently play) is doing everything they can to get ringette back in the Peace Country after it's approx. 8 year run in the '80 & '90s. It would be a great shame to see any of these organizations eliminated from the Alberta league. From experience I've always found that teams that have played together longer tend to be the better teams overall. I would also hate to see the opportunity for young women to get scholarships to post secondary institutions taken away from them. PLEASE KEEP FEMALE MIDGET AAA HOCKEY ALIVE & WELL IN THE PEACE COUNTRY!!!

I grew up in the area and when I was 16 years old I had to travel to Edmonton to play on any competive organization for female hockey. My twin sister along with a handful of local grande prairie and area girls had to travel 14 hours every weekend just to have the opportunity to play great female hockey. I now have a 4 year old and we grab the gp AAA flyer and my daughter is going through it telling me which girl she is "going to be". I had hoped that in 20 years after my teenage years trying to play high proformance hockey that it would be more organized, more local... And it was. Why would anyone take that away now? And away with it opportunities for an abundance of young girls to play in a great league. Because, it is not just the city of Grand Prairie it is the entire surrounding area of potential team Canada athletes that will not get their start.

Having this program allowed her to stay at home in Dawson Creek, BC during her grade 10 year. I think it is important to have the option to keep your child close to home if billeting is not in the picture. To take this away would be a great step backwards for female hockey. The north has always provided a very competitive team, and has been willing to travel all across the province to play. It would be unethical to eliminate the entire northern part of the province.We have something very good and it is not right that the south decides to take this away from all of us. We have an older daughter and nieces who played AAA hockey and have went on to play university hockey with scholarships. We now have a younger daughter who was looking forward to this level of play as well. We are not sending her to Edmonton in grade 10 to be billeted to play AAA hockey. It is rediculous!

It not only impacts the girls that are currently on the team but also the future of the younger girls that are currently enrolled in Minor Hockey. I will hopefully have my other daughter and another niece to watch play in the future. The girls need the ability to play at the highest level in any sport if they are serious about the sport and willing to put the effort into the sport. Not allowing them this is awful.

Grande Prairie is the hub city for the peace region and their will be many outstanding hockey players coming through our program, to add extra financial burden and having to move players potentially away from their families would continue to drop the amount of kids playing out game instead of growing our sport. Grande Prairie is not a sub division of a large city it is epic center for development for the north for our kids. This is a poorly thought out decision and should be reversed.

There is a lot of talent in this area that will now not get the chance to play at the level they need to play at to excel. There are families in this area that can not afford to send their girls to a hockey academy and this league is their only option. Most girls who are looking forward to playing at the University and College level will not enjoy playing below their level of hockey because they are not being challenged. This league prepares the girls in this area for playing at the next level, whether it be university or college. My daughter has benefited from this program in more ways than one. She would not be playing hockey with the NAIT Ooks Women's Hockey team without the excellent coaching she received from this program. I sure hope Hockey Alberta will reconsider and change their decision.
