My eldest has learning disabilities and is more of a single sport player. His confidence and happiness is or was abound when we went there. I was amazed at how the older teenagers took him under their wing and taught him and his younger sibling tricks. We need this space for social skills as well as a fun outdoor space for our children to have fun and not be indoors on iPads etc.79kr

It's a great place where kids can be together and practice a hobby they are passionate about. We have tried soccer and baseball but those types of team sports don't really interest him. The money that's needed to repair the skate park is nothing compared to the athletic fields that have recently been constructed or the playgrounds like castle park. Skateboarding is a real sport and the kids need to have a safe place to practice. I'm sure that the work could be done for a lot less than 100k if it were put out for bid. Please keep the skate park open.

You could go on a Saturday and there 50 kids there until closing. Its gotten to the point where you cannot even roll around because the ground is so bad. The kids know this and stopped going. Fix the ground and I would start going again just to practice flat-ground tricks. Nice smooth surface makes all the difference. I'm 24 years old and have been skating for about 14 years. I love skateboarding. For me its not a hobby it is part of my life. I want the younger generations coming up to have that same love for skateboarding as I do, and having a skate park 5 minutes away. I grew up without a skate park and we had to skate at business's private homes anywhere we could we would get in trouble with police, tenants of buildings, etc. i can't tell you how many times my Parents would get a call from the police saying we were in trouble for skateboarding. Don't make the next generation of skateboarders do this.
