Initially we were pleased at the parking restrictions as we live near to Bramel Lane and on match days, visitors were unable to park near our home. Little did we know we would be paying so much to recieve our friends and family. This is an additional unfair tax as far as I am concerned. £10 per booklet for visitors permits is disgraceful.

And more often than not I'm paying for this permit and usually end up having to park 2-3 minutes away from my house because there's nowhere near my road to park.

The tickets issued to offenders from parking in the residents spaces should pay for the scheme which even extends to places where there wasn't really a problem, like Crookesmoor, now the spaces are mostly empty, and residents have to pay the extortionate amount or park further out, away from their own homes, possibly causing the areas further out to 'need' a scheme where they didn't before. Disgusting.

In addition the residents parking scheme hours of operation should be extended to include Sundays (the day when family and friends visit the most but are often unable to find spaces) and extended during the week beyond 20:30 hrs. as it is often a similar story on returning home from an evening out.

Our Residents Association originally unanimously rejected the councils price of £36 per first car permit when the scheme was introduced as it was deemed excessive and profiteering. To gain agreement to the scheme the council rescinded, and charged £10. Since then they have remorselessly increased the charge to its now punitive rate. This just shows you can't trust them as far as you can kick 'em. When I got my latest bill (£36) i complained to all the local counselors. The only ones that responded were the Green party, the labour party, including their leader, didn't even bother, which shows their contempt for the constituents! But we shouldn't be surprised as they are the architects of this pernicious tax.

The 'parking problems' which were consistently highlighted by local residents as part of the council's investigation into the need for a parking scheme remain as bad today. Occuring when Sheffield United FC host a home fixture, these parking problems have never been tackled by the parking scheme despite the council's promise to wipe these out. I was under the impression that we pay an annual fee to see the council act on the changes that residents asked to be made?
