The reason the hospitals have a problem with making the no fault optional is because they don't negotiate fees with the auto carriers which means more money for them, and they can continue to "double dip" and get paid by both the auto and health insurance, where in the absence of the no fault they can't do that . Now they want to wage a war on this reform, and wave their "non profit" flags. The factis they care far more about their bottom line then they do about helping people. Perhaps that is something else the legislature should look into?

I'm 42 years old without a scratch on my driving record for the past ten years, yet on average I pay $500 to $600 for a six month premium just to have no-fault insurance on my 11 year old truck, how is this NOT completely outrageous.
Also if I have another older vehicle legal to drive, as a back up, I have to have coverage on that as well. I can only drive one vehicle at a time.
If I choose to have no coverage I risk heavy fines and possible jail time. Enough of this BS!!!

Most of us have to depend on transport, to the grocery store or doctor's appointments. If able, we can walk when it's warm but what about the freezing snowy winters? Please repeal this law and remove the huge burden of incredibly high insurance rates.

Additionally, due to the fact that car insurance is so high, there are lots of drivers who skip paying car insurance and take that risk come what may happen. It is not that these drivers want to drive without insurance, but when choosing between food or rent and car insurance, it is simply common sense that one will choose to pay for food or rent instead of the car insurance. No-fault insurance fails to hold people responsible. It contributes to reckless driving and that is not what we need in Michigan. Why should I pay for the reckless drivers? It is simply wrong to hold people responsible for the wrong that is done by others. It is morally wrong and this no-fault law needs to change. After all, even God holds people responsible, all people, not just some people.

I called Michigan Millers myself and they told me that they cannot disclose the reasons for my policy increases to me because I have an agent! The only answer I got from him is that the rates have increased.
I fired my agent and called Gieko who provided me the resonable rate of $1033 every six months only to have the rate increase to $1779 two weeks after I signed up. When I called they told me that that I have no points on my driving record but it shows a no point speeding violation for which they justified the $700.00 increase.
Now I have to go to the secretary of state and iron out this mess... I fear my policy renewals and feel like I am being targeted. I cannot afford this but my car is still financed so the insurance companies know I am stuck. It makes me sick literally.
