The implementation of a much-needed Bus Station in Baxter Gate, or other convenient location, would have facilitated alternative bus routes which avoided the town centre. Each year the bus companies use alternative routes when the Annual Fair is in town or when road-works are being carried out and so they should have no trouble devising permanent routes which avoid the pedestrianised area.
