Ken Minchinton, North Port, Florida, United States of America
This Sucks , I thought the city was building a swimming facility at this location. The City is wasting tax payers money again.

Please help me get this message to the city managers. 1.6 million dollars of our money wasted again.

On November 8, 2016, the North Port City Commission approved a construction contract with XGD Systems, LLC to renovate the sports fields at Butler Park for $1.6 million. The City will be removing three baseball diamonds and replacing them with three open multi-use fields. The fields could be used for a variety of sports, including football, soccer, lacrosse and more.

“The youth sport leagues in this community are growing and so has the need for more multipurpose fields. We are excited to now be able to meet the demand and build fields at Butler Park,” said General Services Director Robin Carmichael. “Butler Park is a hub of activity with the Morgan Family Community Center, an outdoor walking path, basketball courts, a playground, and a kayak launch. This park is a perfect location for these fields. Families will be able to enjoy a host of amenities in addition to both games and practice.”
