I live in Ballyhackamore and the nearest large supermarkets to us are Tesco at Knocknagoney and Sainbury's at Forestside. To get to either of these, we have to take a city-bound bus, then change to another country-bound bus, and then do the same thing again on the return journey. That's 2 buses and around an hour in each direction (taking into account the bus journey time and waiting time), for a journey that is only 3 miles away round the ring road, i.e. 10 minutes by car.

I also like to socialise in the bars and restaurants on the Lisburn Road and Ormeau Road, which again requires buses into the city centre and back out again. Visiting large retail parks etc is also a hassle, e.g. getting to the Boucher Road, Holywood Exchange, etc.

If public transport is to be taken up more widely here, there NEEDS to be better connections between the residential and leisure hubs outside the city centre to allow people to move more freely. Translink, if you build it, they will come!
