Stationerary tram lets passengers off but not at the mid street safety zone.

I have watched in horror as passengers disembark to see so many close shaves. Talk to the tram drivers - they ring their bells but the cars have gone - and there is no recourse with those car drivers. I believe the drivers are basically unaware or ignorant of the laws.

This would stop people from being stuck behind them and the need for making a dash past the trams while they are stationary (which is offten the only time drivers can pass trams).

As a motorist I have noticed that some tram drivers do this but many do not. I support the introduction of legislation to make it illegal to pass a tram with flashing lights. I also think the 'stop' signs that come down from doorways should be enlarged significantly (could be made large enough to deter a car from speeding past) and they should appear WELL before doorways are opened.
