Tom Kozikowski, Frostburg
Throughout my life, I have tried to live honestly and to live by my word. I said I would keep all comments posted, so I will, even though there are a couple here that are really bothering me...I have dedicated the past fifteen years of life to being the best teacher I could be. I have dedicated the past six to also being the best father I can be. I have always tried to serve my community. I am sorry that this effort offended so many. I wish you all the best.

(Nine comments were deleted in the first few hours, due to incorrect e-mail addresses/names. All of these comments were opposed. It was later decided to keep all comments, regardless of identifying information. Also, one correction: The song including lyrics "mother fuh uh" should be listed as "mother uh uh". Thank you to a meticulous and engaged citizen for your feedback.)

(I did make a second e-mail address so that I could have a second comment. I promise not to count this one in the "plus" column.)

Anonymous, In the Cloud
It is interesting that you admit you used MRHS students for your personal projects. It does not matter if you think it was a project for the betterment of the community. You still used students for your own personal gain. It was not a MRHS approved or ACPS approved use of school time. And by having kids provide this information on the back of a test or quiz attaches their name to their response. This compromises every grade you give. How do we know you did not raise or lower a grade based on their cooperation with your project? Your word? Not good enough, This project should have been done on your time outside of school. It shows lack of judgment and contempt for those who don't share your world view.

You and your family are welcome at the pool! Though I disagree with your stance, you have managed to start a discussion and make people aware. and that is SOMETHING. I think your intentions are good at heart, but it's time to move on. Summer is here!

Do you really think submitting anonymous signatures is going to get you anywhere? Maybe it's time to start a GoFundMe page to get a backyard pool for you and your family to enjoy. No offense, but I'm fairly sure the people that go to the Frostburg pool don't want you there anymore. They will probably donate just to keep you away.

Anonymous, Frostburg
Oh give me a break! Mi have been to the Frostburg Pool with my kids tens of dozens of time and at no time did I feel my children were ever,I danger of being corrupted by pop music. Your premise is deeply flawed. Unlike your car or in a quiet office, the radio playing at the pool is not played at a volume level that lends itself to performance levels. At best it was, is and always will be background noise. There is absolutely no way you deciphered these lyrics at THAT pool unless you were searching for trouble to begin with. And some of your lyric depictions are dishonest. YOU DID NOT HEAR THE SOUND "FUH HUH"at the Frostburg Pool. I know that song very well and there is NO "F" sound when they sing "uh huh". You are being dishonest on your petition. Why? Because what you claim is in the music really isn't there. And someone who will lie about stupid little things will lie about bigger things. So bottom line is you can't be trusted. This petition is a load of horse crap.

Anonymous, Frostburg
I really enjoy going to the pool with my kids. But, the two worst stations that I heard when I was at the pool last year were WQZK and "The Wolf". These are two stations that I never heard at any doctor's offices, dental offices, stores, or other businesses. At most offices I hear Magic 100.5 or WFRB. WFRB is okay, but does have some songs that aren't the best for kids. Magic 100.5 is pretty good most of the time. However, it might be nice to go the pool at some times when I know my kids won't hear any questionable music. Six hours each week for young children sounds like a pretty reasonable idea.

At some point you have to JUST STOP and realize that you did what you thought was right, but it didn't work out. This is a battle you are not going to win. It comes down to you (and your family) choosing if you want to take your kids to the pool. If it doesn't suit your tastes/beliefs, don't go. If you spent half the energy you have spent on this issue spending time with your family, everyone would be in a better place. Peace.

Tom Kozikowski, Frostburg
Dear All,
Regarding students at MRHS: before this issue became controversial, in February/early March, I did ask students to come up with lists of "clean songs" that they liked. They were told that it was an idea to help improve the community. Teenagers are very creative and know a lot about current music. It was just a fun activity and there were no grades involved.
After March 15, when the issue became controversial, the pool music has not been discussed with any students who are enrolled at Mountain Ridge High School. It has been very difficult to be silent about something that is so public.
I know that this topic became very complicated in the past three months, yet it began with the best intentions, as a community service project for the good of our young children. My intentions remain the same.
I am very sorry to all who have been offended by this effort. I love Frostburg, Mountain Ridge High School, and the Frostburg Pool.
Sincerely,
Tom Kozikowski

Sir, does your employer know how much you have harrassed the students at Mount Ridge High School, especially the girls? You should be ashamed to continuously make your issues with the pool radio a topic you use to coerce children into seeing things your way. Did my daughter lose points on her tests when she refused to provide you with clean songs? Your behavior in the classroom is an embarrassment. Your petition is an embarrassment.

Carl Carlson, Cumberland MD
I have two young sons. I thought I still believe I am s good father. But as I read the offending lyrics I became perplexed. It is really confusing when you have to explain why lyrics are offensive. I can't feel my face when I'm with you. That is offensive how? I had no idea it was about cocaine usage. But you do. Why is that? Are you an illegal drug user? Because it is usually the junkies they know the slang.

Also. I love country music. One hell of an amen is offensive how? It is a song about American soldiers and people battling cancer. I think that deserves respect not contempt.

I find it hard to believe that this person is so obsessed with music lyrics. He must be the Tipper Gore of Frostburg. I left town to find a good job, something that was scarce in Frostburg in the 1990s. I try to get back every year. The Frostburg pool was a wonderful place to go to growing up. Don't change a thing. The author of this petition is obviously out of touch with reality. How about creating a petition to fight the heroin epidemic in your home state? Or something worthwhile. But to complain about radio music? It's lascivious, salacious, outrageous!

Every generation feels their music is the best and every parent feels their child’s music is the worse. Music and television don’t make for bad behavior. Shielding, over protecting and lack of teaching right from wrong does. Half of these children don’t hear the music anyway, they are too busy playing. I AM SURE much worse is heard at school, at the mall, movies, television, video games and so forth. Do we now ban all of this? One thing that has never changed through time…… It is the very basic responsibility to prepare, teach and mentor our children.
