Managers having numerous asisstant managers is ridiculous and the managers always getting bonuses on the shoulders of our patients and residents just shows that all they care about is their back pocket.

We do not need new ideas, new philosophies, or new programs! What we do need is more front line workers to look after our residents and their basic care needs. Management is top heavy and they need to realize it is their job to provide the best care for our residents. The only way to do this is to listen to the residents, their families and the staff. Residents deserve to be treated with dignity and respect and the only way that can be achieved is to hire more front line staff.

I lived in Regina Saskatchewan for most of my life and worked in the health care field for almost 20 years there. I am currently employed in an American hospital and am distressed that this "top heavy mushroom" phenomenon is occurring here as well. I watch daily as my supervisor and higher levels spend day after day in meeting after meeting. It seems rather rudimentary to me that there is surely a more productive activity that these people could be doing. Collectively that is a huge amount of money spent for people to sit on their butts and talk. Time to stop the talk and walk the walk people....it is about patient/family care, not about making money.

Get rid of LEAN, and confine Eden Alternative to facilities with low levels of care. Hire more housekeepers, kitchen staff, activity workers, laundry workers, aides and RN's. Top heavy management is a waste. MORE FRONT LINE WORKERS who do the actual work. Stop trying to help your corporate donors with big money private contracts. Stop wasting money on attempting to break the unions, with big legal fees etc. All these dollars should be going to help the people who care for our sick, disabled, elderly, and poor.

There needs to be a full disclosure, and review of the healthcare monies being spent. Staffing levels are unsafe, and as much as the workers try to give the best care, they are stymied!

I agree we are to top heavy with management and secretary's. we keep cutting the front line workers like hsk, laundry and cca's. Without hsk and laundry we have have no way to effectively keep down the 'bugs' to protect our loved ones. with more managers and 'nurse b' we cut down on nurses, LPN and aides so there is less for the patients/residents. Who is going to repostion your loved one and make sure they are clean when there is no one to be there.

We need to get control of our Health Care System before it is too broken to repair. Management decisions are made by those who do not have to speak directly to patients and their families. Centralized decision making means that decision makers do not have to put names and faces to the people affected by their decisions - no relationship seems to mean no compassion or common human decency.

We need more people on the front line of patient care. Not top heavy management that has no grasp on the situtation. I've said it a thousand times and will say it a thousand times more. Give the top management a paralyitic drug and put them into long term care where no one knows them. Let them experience the situtation first hand and things will change immediately.
