Miss Amanda Fettell, Port Macquarie, NSW, Australia
For my club personally increasing the age limit would be beneficial. But if this was to occur then we loose the meaning of apex as an association and relevance to young people. By changing the limit we will be just like other service clubs (rotary and lions). Ask yourself What would the Founders think? Also Malaysia has tried it and if we look at thier results. It didn't work. The numbers didn't increase just the ages of the members.

Mrs Tracey Briscoe, Chinchilla, Qld, Australia
I love my apex I have enjoyed being in apex for 14 years as a partner than a member. I know that my time is near and accept that, I have great young members in my club that can carry on without me, they may miss me to start with but they will survive with out me. And they know if they need a hand they only have to call. You cant run an organisation with the same people at the top all the time. If they get dug in they could stay their for a long time like in loins but at age 45 the deck are clear

Mr Leon Squires, Nelson Bay, NSW, Australia
Since the age of Apex was increased to 45 from 40 we have had a big decline in numbers any so why would you increase the age again. The main problem with Apex I believe is that Zones should never have been done away with earlier. This move stopped orinary members from having a say at local level and clubs from visiting each other. There is to much time being spent on state issues and not enough time on club ,district, and national level. Apex should not be a stepping stone to politics.

mr Rodney Johnston, Busselton, WA, Australia
Apex was set up as a young mens service club in which we where tought how to help those in need, how to run a meeting with procedures, public speaking, debating etc.
I think once we have achieved this, it is time for others to learn. I have spent 21/22 years in Apex and have had a wonderful time with all. I would think that if the age group was widdened, you will not get the younger people to join because who wants to go out with their father, mother, grandparents and get told you cant do that.

I also feel for the under age members who are too young to join. Apex needs young fresh ideas, and to continue with this the age needs to remain the same, even though I would like to keep some members of coming age. While keeping the age limits as they are, major improvements need to take place to ensure the future success of the organisation.

Mr Shane Macdonald, Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia
I think that Apex 40's or another organisation which is more active should cater for older people. In fact, I think taht the age should be reduced back to 18-35 as there is too big a gap between 18 and 45 year olds. Maybe the new organisation (Apex 35's??) could assist Apex itself a bit more than Apex 40's does and not just be a social club and then we have the best of both worlds, a truly young person's association and a more experienced one for guidance but that does not have to be as full on.

Apex has to evolve but not by stretching its limits. Apply change to its image, branding, projects, involvement etc. Organise activities to actively recruit young persons, market Apex as the service organisation to be in.

Raymond Stewart, Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia
At our recent club meeting The members of The South Toowoomba Apex Club were completly and totally against these two motions.
At the moment Apex is not really limited to just 18 to 45 year olds but is actually open to anyone of any age over 16, as an associate member. This allows for active members (the 18 - 45 year olds) to hold the executive positions and to form the direction of the club. Older Apexians are still encouraged to be a part of Apex and to continue to contribute.

Lyn MacDonald, Toowoomba, QLD, Australia
While it will be the district governors that ultimately vote on the motions at the convention and, therefore, effectively decide the issue on behalf of all Apex members, they are required to gauge the sentiment of the members.
This is your chance to have your voice heard
