The work Officer Owens and other officers have done in the neighborhood has been dramatic and has helped begin a change to a safer, cleaner and better neighborhood.

Officer Owens is exactly what a neighborhood police officer should be. He is proactive in helping the neighborhood through his personal approach to home owners and businesses to improve quality of life issues that ultimately reduces crime and improves livability.

Having been involved in the neighborhood crime watch for years, I feel that prior to the NPO program, many neighborhood issues were simply given lip service and many issues went unaddressed. That changed when Officer Owens began his work.

Officer Owens is a great representative of the DPD in our neighborhood and he has gone a long way to bring diverse neighbors and businesses together in a common goal of improving the neighborhood with support from the DPD.

Gains against criminal activity are tenuous and require diligent, constant attention. It would be a travesty to reverse these significant gains by not allowing Officer Owens to continue his great work. Please do not make a change in our NPO.

He has been a catalyst for activity in the Cedars. The NPO position is very important and Officer Owens embodied all that it entailed. He exemplified all that a police officer should be and has contributed more than his job description required.

His work with residents, businesses, and neighborhood leaders has had a positive effect on crime and the quality of life in the Cedars. So much so that he was awarded the Cedars annual Hero award at a neighborhood ceremony attended by his superiors and a member of the Dallas City Council.

We feel that as citizens of the City of Dallas, it is our duty to contribute the the betterment of our community. One way that we can contribute is to firmly request that the decision to reassign officer Owens be reversed.

The fact that we have a caring police officer that has wanted to get to know the people in the neighborhood and especially one that comes out to not only lead projects but is also in there doing the dirty work is overwhelming.
His work to clean up the vacant lots and make them into parks has been a tremendous asset to the neighborhood. Please don't let that happen!
