Dr Antonio Emmanouilidis, Brighton, United Kingdom
The residents in the area fear the proposed scheme will reduce the amount of parking lots because of the introduction of an additional number of double yellow lines which will seal-off large stretches of road. The situation will end up with residents competing for a minor numbers of parking places, after having paid a fee. All this with added hassle (and cost) in case of relatives visiting. It seems the council is only interested in its funding, rahter than the interest of homeowners/residents

It is clear that the parking scheme proposal is nothing more than a tendentious way of accruing more money to the Council's revenue, without any scrutiny. Far better that the Council should enforce existing parking legislation than impose new regulations. And why not enforce, at the same time, the 30 mph speed limit that is constantly exceeded on this road?

I'm not persuaded the scheme will be of any benefit to residents, why should paymetn for parking be enforced in this way? P&D areas mapped are far too numerous requiring expensive & unwanted machinery, road markings, & policing. Restricted parking times as proposed will not help the residents. Yellow lines, etc. for safe parking can and should be separately addressed.

The proposed scheme will add to resident parking congestion which is at night (not during working hours). There is no justification for any restriction on weekends.
It will adversely affect Downs Junior School with people dropping pupils off on yellow zigzag lines rather than paying and displaying. This will create more danger for children walking to school and crossing the roads by the school. n

However, I feel the parking scheme proposed is just another way for the council to make money and in no way benefits me the resident and will actually make finding a parking space increasingly difficult and expensive.
Mrs Wendy Tidman, Brighton, United Kingdom
I am completely againnst the CPZ in my immediate area., although I do feel some sympathy for those who are affected by the parking of communters. We are not affected and indeed it has never been difficult to find parking space during the day - when CPZ would be controlled of course. Instead, it is sometimes nightmare to park during the evening if we go out - so no benefits there for us! My sisters both live in areas difficult to access by public transport. I would never see them without a car!

We already have double yellow lines streatching approximately 25% on this side of the road that already reduces the amount of parking and to further reduce this would be totally unacceptable. There is already a 3.6% increase in council tax this year, paying to park in an area with plenty of parking spaces will create further financial burdens on residents.
There are 15 houses on my side of the street, but more than half of the proposed parking spaces will be allocated to exclusive P&D. This will 1)limit parking opportunities for residents. 2)increase chances of double parking

Mr Greg Cooke, Brighton, East Sussex, United Kingdom
There is no major parking 'problem' in this area requiring this level of response. This is merely a revenue raising exercise. This is mainly a conservation area that does not need further street clutter.

Mrs Jennifer Cooke, Brighton, East Sussex, United Kingdom
I am completely against any parking scheme in this area. There is no issue with access or parking in Southdown Avenue. This is considered by residents to be a revenue raising exercise and nothing more. We cannot afford to pay for unnecessary schemes, especially in the current climate.

Mr Martin Cross, Brighton
The consultation for this scheme is biased in its favour; the scheme is not needed in the great majority of the area, will not deliver its promised improvements, and is simply a money making exercise for the Council. We do not have a parking problem - so why should we, and our visitors, have to pay money into the Council coffers

Mr Russell Pryce, United Kingdom
As a regular visitor to friends in the area I have never experienced any difficulties in parking. I therefore fail to understand the reason for introducing such a costly scheme at a time when Councils should be saving money.

Mr Jason Parks, Brighton, East Sussex
I also object the the biased presentation of the public consultation document, I consider this document should offer a balanced view of the parking situation in the effected areas. In my considered opinion in the vast majority of areas there is not a sufficient problem with parking which warrants such a costly scheme; both to implement and enforce.
