A neighbours dog barks from anywhere between 3am till 6am nearly every night and i just have to put up with it so that i can document times, how often, how long the bark is for etc and wirte letters! I want to sleep NOW

I have been lodging barking dog complaints to the Monash City Council for eight years, and they never progress past the ranger chatting to the offending neighbour. I am constantly asked to fill in new logs. More recently, a member of the dog walking group in the adjoining reserve provokes his dog such that it barks continuously and sets other dogs barking. Members of the group believe it is legitimate for their dogs to bark thus. It is not. City of Monash has no will to control this nuisance.

Dogs are a major disturbance to ther peace.
Every second of the day is filled with a dog barking. Dog owners are negligent people who have no righrt to own an animal without
proper training. Where are my rights as a non dog owner to demand the right to peaceful living. I have become ill and stressed due to lack of sleep because I am constantly awakened deep into the night or too early in the morning by a barking dog.
If the owner cannot control the dog, why is he allowed to posess one?

For a council to attend to witness the barking, will probably just create more barking. They must be prepared to remove the animal immediately to a shelter at the owners expense, should the owner of the dog not be home. Nuisence barking may be caused by a dog that has cornered a possum. Australian wildlife should take priority over the dog. A human's right to sleep should take priority over the dog's. Irresponsible owners are the problems. Councils should not fear these owners!

I agree more needs to be done to assist neighbours of people with barking dogs. Particularly when friendly approaches have been made, even begging(!), for the dogs to be quieted, and it is only met with abuse and accusations of harrassment!
