If a man who is praised by his superiors, including Gen. George Meade and President Lincoln, for his gallant actions, at Gettysburg, why doesn't he get his due respect with the Medal of Honor? Is it because he died? That isn't fair at all! He made a valiant charge at Fredericksburg and left only under orders. He is also asked to be the army JAG.
He is promoted on his deathbed, a rarity.
Read the book 'What Death more Glorious' You will see why he deserves the MOH.
Even the Smithsonian has his sword because he was a worthy officer. Everybody says that Joshua Chamberlain is the hero. Hmmmm..... Who placed him there and gave distinct orders not to leave the ground and fight to the last man? And remember, Vincent did this without orders to take the hill. He knew if he waited, the hill would probably be lost.
"Don't give an inch boys! Don't give an inch!", are the words that echo today on Little Round Top! Name me one person who fought that got their medal and didn't do a thing to deserve it?
GIVE HIM THE MEDAL!!!
