They cause no more harm then bikes which people rid on the pavements a lot. Mobility scooters are allowed and even though some need it there are no laws saying able 20 year olds cant buy one for public use. I understand they shouldn't be used on the roads as it will cause many accidents and it would slow traffic but it should be allowed on pavements. The hoverboards are also not a danger as if it were to hit someone it would roll into there feet. Child scooters could very easily cause more injury as they are larger and children tend to have less control of the transport. Anyone old and heavy enough to use a swegway usually is responsible enough. Scooters would also be worse as they are oddly shaped with handle bars and it could be more easily used as a weapon to beat someone whereas swegways would really be too heavy to do that and if it was attempted the victim could run away easily compared to a light scooter. In terms of the speed the swegway goes at a jogging speed and there are no laws banning running which would be much faster. Swegway manufactures have created it to slow itself down. You should be promoting it as they're good for the enviroment.

Adults and children can ride skateboards on the pavement. Disabled adults and children can ride motorised vehicles on the pavenemt. It's time there was a bit more flexibility for everyone.
