Im a mother and my husband is the best father to our child but was not given the right to coparent and be a good father to his first child. I know too many great men that are alienated from their child/children and not given rights to coparent their child. I know so many other men that struggle to be in their child’s life and it makes me sad to see fatherless children that have fathers who would like to have rights to coparent them but are having a difficult time getting those rights and the mother just wants to play victim and alienate them from their child/children. Fathers not married to the mother start out with no rights and if the mother isn’t willing to let the father be in the picture it can take years to get unsupervised visits. The first few years of life are crucial in a child’s development and valuable bonding time and firsts are missed. Men should always start with 50-50 parenting rights and be given the opportunity to coparent so long as there is No evidence of domestic abuse or child neglect/abuse. Mothers will lie to keep control and sole custody. Courts needs to require proof the same proof that is required when a child is taken from the mom.

The court system is living off of old school rules and laws and hasn't adapted to the worlds changes. Years ago when these laws were created it was the man who went out, worked sun up to sun down while the mother stayed home and cared for the kids. Divorces and children out of wedlock were unheard of back then. That's not how things are these days. Both women and men work 8+ hours a day and the court system hasn't adapted to that. I've been in and out of custody court for almost 4 years now and every time we go back I somehow get screwed over with time and child support.
