The oil rigs would be 50-100 miles off shore, no one would ever see them from land.

If South Carolina drilled intelligently 75 or 80 miles offshore, then you couldn't see the rigs even if you were 40 or more miles offshore. Also, even in the extremely rare event of a leak or spill, especially with newere technology and well cap improvements developed over the last few years... the spill would head north with the Gulf Stream.. My question is would citizens of South Carolina get annual dividends on the oil as citizens in Alaska have gotten for some time now? Before going ahead with drilling offshore I'd like to see a solid contract and guaranteed dividends! - along with lower taxes of course...!
