Iam a recipient of the wound stripe. I have been asked more times than I care for to explain what I wore.one WW2 veteran recognized it and thanked me for my service. To put a date on the sacrifice medal is a slap in the face. I served my country for 36 years was wounded and recieved an award that no one recognizes because some bureaucrat decided that anyone serving prior to the medal had an expiry date. I served in a special duty op area Cambodia and not worthy of the new medal sounds pettthat'

I believe that our Peace Keepers deserve to receive the Sacrifice Medal. Apparently, the Sacrifice Medal applies “only during a war in encountering “Hostile Forces” and not during Peace Keeping missions but according to Ex-President George Bush, every country that lost someone in the 9/11 disaster is at war with the Taliban. So the least we can do to recognize our many injured & dead Canadian Peace Keepers, is to honour them with the Sacrifice Medal which they so proudly deserve.

After seving 30 years in the Military and multiple peace keeping tours, I have witnessed enjuries from hostile troops and we have also lost airbourne troops in Cyprus in 1973 ( I think ) . This petitian overlooks one of the longest peace time engagements in history of the Candadian Forces. Please reconsider the back dateing of this well deseved by all peace keepers and war time troops
