I believe it's not fair to keep children with head lice in school because there are other families who take certain steps to keep their children lice free. Why should we have to go out and spend all kinds of money on kits to remove head lice and wash everything in our entire house just because our children go to school. This has become a recurring problem year after year.

Head lice are unhealthy, children scratch, opening the skin up to various fungi and bacteria. The first line of defense , health wise, is intact skin. A no nit policy would neccisitate action from parents who otherwise would be too sorry to take the necessary steps.
