Dylan Albon, Peterborough, Ontario, Canada
The Canadian Mental Health Act effectively strips those with a psychiatric diagnosis of their constitutional rights when in hospital.

Extremely vague, the statute allows patients to be detained indefinitely against their will, with nothing more than a subjective behavioural analysis. Such a tool is subject to abuse, and should should be used to a great degree of responsibility.

It's power is similar to that of the Security Certificates used to indefinitely detain suspects of terrorism without releasing evidence or allowing the accused legal council.

Chareene Humphreys, Cottontown, Tennessee, United States of America
I am disabled from a stroke and cannot draw disability because I stayed home and raised my two sons. I have a long work history, but did not work enough quarters prior to my stroke in 1993. I was at work when I had the stroke. My family has really suffered. The laws need to be changed, updated. I was asked to resign my position as an educational asisstant.

Richard Fox, Somerset, Kentucky, United States of America
Change the disability laws and give the disabled their freedom to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. We deserve to be able to live too. I should not be told that i can't rent any part of my home by anyone. That if i do i would loose that money from my check. Or that i would have to pay all that Social Security paid me back if i won the lottery.

Anonymous, Peterborough, Ontario, Canada
I think it's not fair that people on disability can't save money and try to make what they earn stretch and try to live a somewhat normal life. Even something as simple as saving for a car, a child's education, maybe a dining room table.. People that are on disability don't work because they CAN'T.. Those in need of the system they should be encouraged to save what little extra they get towards something that helps make their future as a disabled more goal oriented and happy.

Nathan Nahrgang, Peterborough, Ontario, Canada
I have seen first hand the effects of the injustice to those on disability. My mother is a cancer survivor, and I have seen with her have to fight with disability far too often. She has to live so frugally that without the help of her friends and family, its amazing she has enough money to have food on her plate by the time she is done paying rent/heat/hydro. Our gov't should be ashamed of the way these people are treated. Give them the chance to live with their illnesses with less stress.
