After 40 years of supporting the FR I am on the point of terminating my membership in protest. Why can't the FR see sense?

This petition is based on half truths and false suppositions. The public statement on display at the WHHR station in Porthmadog is equally one sided. The 64 Co didn't keep their part of the bargain so have repudiated the 1998 agreement. It is they who are sowing disharmony and damaging the good name of the railways. The Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railways are bringing real economic benefits to the area instead of acting like spoiled children.

Dr Prideaux frequently states that WHRL 'failed' to fulfil their side of the bargain by not building the railway to Pont Croesor. The 1998 agreement soes NOT require this and I question if he has read it clearly as I have. He fails to consider that the final build of the pen-y-mount/pont croeasor section deviated heavily from the original plans and the projected financial contribution from the WHRL was less than the has already been made. FR prohibited WHRL from competing for fund raising.

The WHR(P) are catering for a different market to WHR(C) when through services commence. There is unlikely to be much traffic to the Osprey Centre unless frequent rail services are offered, and only WHR (P) are in a position to do this. What are they expected to do - close down?

I think the FR is being extremely churlish towards tjhe WHR(P). I have booked a holiday in Porthmadog for this August and hope that I wil be able to ride from there to Beddgelert. I see no reason why a service could be operated from the WHR(P)'s terminus. I think the X-town link is a white elephant - no one will travel from Caernarvon to Bleaneau in one go. A vintage bus link between the two termini at Porthmadog would be an easier option.

The Welsh Highland Railway Ltd should be allowed to operate over the the whole of the Welsh HIghland Railway as can be accomodated within operating constraints. They have a lot to offer in terms of historic locos, rolling stock and the museum and after all they were there first! It is unacceptable that Ffestiniog Railway should oppose the operation of the WHR.Ltd and should stand by the 1998 Agreement. Effort must be made to resolve this ridiculous situation.

We are all in this together. Why renege on the 1998 Agreement? What have you gained from this action? On the surface the whole thing looks petty, immature and totally amoral. Assuming that you are decent, well liked and have good morals, there must be something that we are missing......or that lies hidden.
What a wasted opportunity. It would be excellent for everyone to come together for the good of the railways in Porthmadog and the people who live here. We deserve it.

Shuttle trains from Porthmadog WHR to Pont Croesor do not need to cross the Cambrian line on the flat crossing and they could be promoted as a useful link between the Caernarfon-Beddgelert-Port Harbour trains and the Cambrian Coast Line at Porthmadog mainline station for through travellers (I use public transport when I visit North Wales as bus and train links are so good with a North and Mid Wales Flexi Pass). Also good connection for locals from villages along WHR to Tesco store.
