Get me right: i was a Big Yankee Fan not pleased with Boston Red Sox existing in this Universe at all...and i hated to see Dewey involved in a play against the Yankees...Where in the World did ge get that arm??? WHO COULD RUN ON DEWEY? The guy was a clutch hitte, and had exellent statistics evefy year...
On the other hand, Boggs could hit .360 and in clutch situations he was a savior against the Yankees-he couldnt hit a watermelon withnan ironing board!
FANS KNOW THAT DWIGHT EVANS AND TONY OLIVA BELONG IN THE HALL OF FAME,,,

Dwight Evans is simply one of the greatest of all of them, and without his steady accomplishments in baseball, the Boston Red Sox of his time would probably be remembered as a "pretty good" team, not the annual contender they were at that time. They had many other great players during that time, but I think Evans may have been overlooked for Hall of Fame consideration because his style of play was so supportive of his team and completely without selfishness and self-promotion that his very high quality of play was taken for granted. Dwight Evans will have been retired for about 25 years by the time you consider this petition, and I think he is long overdue for the honor of being a Hall-of-Famer. Please correct his having been overlooked and select Dwight Evans as one of the 12 finalists for the Expansion Era Ballot scheduled for the fall of 2016.

His numbers are just as good as Rice and he is in. Additionally, Dewey dominated his position and that is how we put players in the Hall. He of is one of the best outfielders of all time with 8 Gold Gloves, and a very accomplished hitter with 384 HR over 2000 hits. Most importantly is his defense and his cannon of an arm. There would be a man on 2nd and a hit to RF and they wouldn't send him, that's how respected Dewey was. It is definitely time to give Dewey his dew. See what I did there?

As a sox fan growing up in the 80s there was no one you would rather see coming to the plate in a clutch situation. He seemed to raise his game when the stakes were higher he had countless game winning hits. He was arguably the best right fielder of his time defensively which was highlighted by his extraordinary arm. 8 gold gloves over his career and more career home runs than his peer him rice who was recently elected to the hall of fame. Yes Evans played many more years than rice but only aprox 600 abs more which is about an extra season at bats. The only 600 more at bats difference between rice and Evans when Evans played several more year is largely due to the fact Evans was a base on balls machine during his career. Dewey was a true professional and deserves to be inducted in the HOF
