He gets very frightened and for such a long period this is animal abuse. I also know a few old people that get very worried by all the noise. People cannot be trusted to behave well, the right to buy fireworks for personal use needs to be withdrawn. Most of my affluent neighbours have now celebrated the night 3 times, the weekend before and after and 5th November.

Thirty years ago public displays were also held on the nearest weekend to 5 November. Now, we have to suffer the ever increasing volume of fireworks all year round, especially when you live in an area of multi ethnicity communities as I do. My dog is a nervous wreck from October right through until after Diwali or Ead (whichever is the latest festival). It is time ALL occasions in which fireworks are let off only happen at organised events; that NO shop is allowed to sell them to the public and that whatever it is that makes them so loud nowadays is reduced. Fireworks are fascinating to watch but they don't need to be so loud so as to terrify animals and wildlife. While the general public can buy them, they will always be a cruelty tool used by idiots with nothing better to do than terrorise someone or something for 'fun'. Please enforce a law which drastically restricts their use.
