They were taken by surprise, as Avril has been to Hungary twice before.

Fans were looking forward to a concert in Hungary, as Avril related fan communities have just grown and become a central part of their lives.

Child prostitution is unacceptable.
It undermines the safety of children, their future and their relationships with adults – this is true even for those who are not personally victims of child prostitution but just know about it. Child prostitution is the worst form of inequality and exploitation. It causes serious and almost irreparable damage, basic human rights violations and psychological, physical and social harm.

Nowadays, underage and young prostitutes who have been “prepped” in Hungary are arriving to Western European sex markets not just occasionally, but systematically and en masse. While the Hungarian State has for a long time now averted responsibility for the issue, consumers of the local sex industry and prostitution are exploiting their victims to the greatest extent possible.

As the average age of entering into prostitution – according to international surveys – is 14 years, overcoming this phenomenon is unimaginable without the cooperation of society and the acceptance of responsibility on behalf of the State.

In our opinion, the State, as the trustee of the common good, cannot shift its responsibility to the victims. It cannot act as if this serious phenomenon does not exist or is just a peripheral problem. Now that a leading state official has made a declaration to this effect [1.], we regard it as our duty to raise our voices in defence of child victims and to protest against the cynicism and indifference that has been elevated to the level of state politics.

No democratic society can stand idly by in the face of child prostitution. We must fight against it.

As responsible European citizens and Hungarian Civil women, we proclaim that we are committed to all European moral values and we commit to respect the legal laws of the community.
Accordingly, we welcome the new provisions that have been made with the new media law of the Hungarian Government focusing on child and family protection.

With this Declaration we support the following:
• Media should inform authentically the society
• Media should serve the physical, spiritual and mental development of people
• Media, as it is a mediator of values, should present justice, goodness and beauty
• Media should protect public morality, moreover educate and encourage everyone to it
• Media should not present sin as a virtue, should not encourage to sin, and to commit criminal acts
• Media should not popularize any forms of violence and pornography
• Advisements should not use children for commercial purposes.

The mission of the Hungarian Women’s Alliance is the confession of our female vocation at the same time: ”As it is the woman, like is the family, as it is the family, like is the society.”
The most genuine vocation of a woman is giving life and raising children and this can be fulfilled only in the family. The woman being in charge of the hearth of the family, takes an integral part in the formation of our society.
Accordingly, the media is called to present female dignity in a respectful way and to strengthen the values of marriage, family and motherhood.

Felelős európai polgárként és magyar civil nőként kijelentjük, hogy teljes mértékben elkötelezettek vagyunk az európai erkölcsi értékek és a közösségi jogszabályok tiszteletben tartása mellett.

Ezért örömmel üdvözöljük a magyar kormánynak a család és gyermekek védelmében hozott intézkedéseit, különös tekintettel az új médiatörvényben foglaltakra.

Nyilatkozatunkkal támogatjuk, hogy
• a média hitelesen tájékoztassa a társadalmat,
• a média szolgálja az emberek testi, lelki, szellemi fejlődését és gazdagodását,
• a média értékközvetítő szerepénél fogva az igazat, jót és szépet mutassa be,
• a média védje a közerkölcsöt, és arra neveljen, biztasson minden embert,
• a média nem tüntetheti fel a bűnt erényként, nem biztathat bűnre, bűncselekmény elkövetésére,
• a média nem népszerűsítheti az erőszak és pornográfia semmilyen formáját,
• a média reklámjai nem használhatják fel a gyermekeket kereskedelmi célokra.

A Magyar Asszonyok Érdekszövetségének küldetése egyben női hivatásunk hitvallása is: „Amilyen a nő, olyan a család; amilyen a család, olyan a társadalom.”
Az asszony legtermészetesebb hivatása az életadás és anyaság, mely a családban teljesedhet ki. A nő, mint a családi tűzhely őrzője, a társadalom formálásának nélkülözhetetlen pillére.

Ezért a média részéről feltétlenül szükséges lenne a női méltóság iránt tanúsított tisztelet, a házasság, a család, az anyaság értékének megerősítése.

Nyugat-Európa szexpiacaira immár nem csupán alkalmilag, hanem rendszerszerűen és tömegesen érkeznek a magyar földön előnevelt gyermekkorú és fiatal prostituáltak. Miközben a magyar állam már jó ideje elhárítja magától a felelősséget, a hazai szexipar és a prostitúció fogyasztói mindent megtesznek azért, hogy a maximális hasznot sajtolják ki áldozataikból.

Minthogy a prostitúcióba való bekerülés átlagos életkora – nemzetközi kutatások szerint – 14 év, ennek a jelenségnek a visszaszorítása komoly társadalmi összefogás és állami felelősségvállalás nélkül elképzelhetetlen.

Véleményünk szerint az állam, a közjó letéteményese nem háríthatja át a felelősséget az áldozatokra, nem tehet úgy, mintha ez a drámai jelenség nem létezne vagy csak periférikus probléma volna. Most, amikor egy vezető állami tisztviselő nyilatkozott [1.] ismét ebben a szellemben, kötelességünknek tartjuk, hogy felemeljük a hangunkat a gyermekáldozatok védelmében, és tiltakozzunk a közpolitika szintjére emelt cinizmus és közöny ellen.

A gyermekprostitúció ténye mellett demokratikus társadalom nem mehet el tétlenül. Le kell küzdenünk.
