The Maltese government has just declared that the legal notice that bans smoking from Outside dining areas has just been lifted in order to enhance the economy.

The Legal Notice 206 of 2020 issued in May 2020 added a new regulation stating that no one shall be allowed to smoke any tobacco products in places where food is being served or within the parameters of places where food is served. Such smoking shall be allowed if it is done ten (10) metres away from the place where food is being served.

However now this is now being lifted, allowing smoking at dining tables serving outside.

As health workers ( i'm a physiotherapist myself ) we know the negative effects that smoking has on the respiratory system and in the midst of a world pandemic which attacks the respiratory system , such impact is now being overlooked.

Smoking any kind of tobacco reduces lung capacity and increases the risk of many respiratory infections and can increase the severity of respiratory diseases. COVID-19 is an infectious disease that primarily attacks the lungs. Smoking impairs lung function making it harder for the body to fight off coronaviruses and other respiratory diseases. Available research suggests that smokers are at higher risk of developing severe COVID-19 outcomes and death.
We all know that passive smoking has similar effects as smoking itself.
So please lets join force and ask the authorities to keep the ban on smoking in public/dining areas.

A CRY FOR HELP: Stop the exploitation of our children in Maltese Football

Children playing football in Malta are treated as financial commodities. A child is the club's property. To move from one club to another usually the child's parents or guardians have to pay a sum that can reach into the thousands. Even if the child is unhappy or is not playing regularly, the club is entitled to receive this compensation. Freedom comes at a price. This is called nursery compensation fee and is paid over and above the annual membership fee and the annual kit fee. LET'S STOP THIS.

Regulate the Rental Market in Malta

In the last 3 years in Malta the rent I have paid has increased 50% and that includes having to downsize to a 1 bedroom flat.

My rent now takes 49% of my income.

This has become unsustainable unless my salary increases substantially.

Apply No Claims Insurance Discounts to Motorcycles in Malta

In Malta there are not a lot of motorcycles and Maltese people think that it is highly risky to ride a motorcycle. Insurance companies offer No Claims discount schemes in a Car Insurance reducing the annual premium from 10 to 70% and more depending the number of the years a driver has no claims starting from a minimum of 1 to a maximum of 5. This logic wants to reward good drivers.

The same should be applied to good drivers riding motorcycles often every day to go at work or to enjoy the Maltese island during the weekends or because is their passion.

Who rides a motorcycle often, a Father that has a family at home waiting for him, we don't want to die in an road accident. Riding motorcycles we can reduce the traffic, the stress and emissions of CO2. Think about the policemen that use motorcycles for their job.

YouTube is the place everyone goes onto to view, comment, like/dislike and subscribe to videos and channels that they may like. These range from simple viral videos of funny acts, music videos, gaming videos and whole movies online.

Youtube offers the service to fellow Youtube Posters that their videos could be monetized for a lot of views and traffic, and it could become their main source of income. One typical account that has made this possible is Pewdiepie, a really amazing gamer and I personally love his videos just like millions of other people do, and subscribers base plus video views of every video he posted show how true this is.

I live in Malta, and finding a satisfying job is hard enough as it is, but I believe that if I and other Maltese citizens pour our souls into this, we can achieve what Pewdiepie did, and let's face it Youtube is infinite and subscribers keep on appearing on youtube, as time passes by.

Call for Referendum to ban all kinds of bird hunting and trapping in the Maltese Islands

The rampant indiscriminate shooting and slaughter of birds in Malta is rife. Hunteers are allowed to practice the hobby of shooting and hunting birds. Many hunters ignore the fact that protected species should be allowed to fly freely and shoot them down. Hunters need to be stopped.

This petition aims to collect a minimum of 10,000 signatures and force the introduction of a total ban on bird hunting in Malta and its territorial limitation
