Urging the Governor to act in maintaining the Integrity of British Gibraltar Territorial Waters - Defenders of Gibraltar

Since the tearing up of the 1999 Fishing Agreement, there has been a clear lack of action taken by the Royal Gibraltar Police and the Royal Navy in enforcing Gibraltarian Law and tackling the completely illegal incursions by the Guardia Civil in British Gibraltar Territorial Waters.

It is generally understood that this is mainly to do with the UKs wish to avoid any sort of political confrontation with a fellow EU member or NATO ally.

We, the Gibraltarian people, are fed up with the constant aggressive and belligerent behaviour of our neighbour and the constant appeasement and inaction by those required by our constitution to defend us and Gibraltars territorial and political integrity. This includes the complete lack of any political will to tackle the issues which constitute oppression by the Kingdom of Spain towards Gibraltar and its people.

We are British Citizens. If this happened in waters off the UK, the response would be different. This is where the Governors attitude is wrong. The waters around Gibraltar are British - if you do not enforce it as such over time we will lose it.

Legalise privacy glass on Gibraltar registered cars

It is legal for ANY registered European car to have tints installed, whether asked for as an extra option when bought as new or installed some time after.

We are not asking for anything illegal, only what is allowed by law in every other country. Theft and damages due to windows being completely clear and thieves been able to view inside the car are on the rise.

Damage from the suns UV rays to plastics within the car, rear seats, etc are also numerous and very expensive to fix.

The Gibraltar Football Association should be allowed in the UEFA!

The Gibraltar Football Association (GFA) was formed in 1895. It is one of the world's oldest football associations.

In 1997, the GFA applied to FIFA for membership. In 1999, FIFA confirmed that the GFA conformed to the requirements, thus handing the file on to the UEFA. In 2000, UEFA and FIFA conducted a joint inspection of the football related facilities and, in consequence, produced a report stating "The FA of Gibraltar fulfils all requisite statutory conditions for admission to UEFA”.

In August 2000, the report to UEFA leaked to the Spanish media, and in consequence, both the Spanish Government and its political parties started a campaign to prevent the GFA's application from succeeding on purely political grounds. The Spanish objections were solely based on their claim of Sovereignty on Gibraltar. None of their objections were based on any sport criteria.

In December 2000, the Executive Committee of UEFA decided to appoint three independent judges to consider the legality and validity of the Spanish claims. The independent legal panel issued a report on August 2001 rejecting the Spanish objections and stating "the GFA is entitled to provisional admission as a member of UEFA”.

The applying continues and you can carry on reading on this link... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gibraltar_Football_Association

Please read as there is a lot more information there.

Stop the culling of Macaques in Gibraltar

The Minister for the Environment in Gibraltar has announced a plan to cull a troop of Macaques around the Catalan Bay area. Although these monkeys may have caused disturbances for local residents, we believe that the culling of these intelligent, sociable and sentient primates is cruel and unnecessary when there are other alternatives to solve this problem, such as relocation.

We assert that, had a suitable management plan been implemented back in 1997, as proposed by Prof. Robert Martin, D. Phil, D. Sc, at that time, the current situation would not have occurred. Our research has shown that the Government of Gibraltar has consistently failed to invest adequate resources in the responsible management of their Macaque population, despite the presence of the monkeys boosting the local economy as a popular tourist attraction.

We request that the Government commits to investing in a comprehensive, long-term plan to manage the Macaque population, on which its tourist industry so heavily relies, without the use of culling.
