Variance Use at Haven of Portage County

The vision of First Curve was to raise $250,000, divided into three categories: $180,000 toward purchasing land to house abused and trafficked women, $50,000 to provide housing for the homeless, and $20,000 to increase missions outreach. To date, we’ve raised almost $210,000, meeting the missions goal and getting close to the $230,000 for the homeless and trafficked women. Although the original goal was to raise the funds in 18 months and we passed the 2-year mark in January, we will reach the total amount in God’s timing and as he leads people to give.

As we’ve worked toward the First Curve goal and stepped out in faith, God developed the vision for two properties with two separate ministries (homeless & trafficked) into a one-property reality. In working out the possibilities for ministry and balancing them against the needs of both the homeless and trafficked women, we realized that both efforts will be better served by being on one property. The ministry taking place on one property will serve both the homeless and trafficked women and will be called the Haven of Portage County. The Haven of Portage County has been formed as a charitable entity separate from Portage Community Chapel, both for operational purposes and liability reasons.

We are officially the owners of the land and buildings at 2645 SR 59 in Ravenna! Last week, Pastor Mark signed the paperwork and we now have property on which we can start The Haven of Portage ministry to the homeless and trafficked. It's exciting news! Portage Community Chapel and Riverwood Community Chapel both contributed to the $75,000 down payment and the $350,000 remainder is financed for 15 years. Riverwood will continue to partner both financially and in ministry. It's been a long road since we began in 2015 and this purchase is a significant milestone.

What now? Well, we thank God for his faithfulness and the privilege to do His work here in the community. We continue to work on the building renovation plans and get them ready to submit. We continue to pray for God to bring donors and partners on board. And, we continue to move forward to have the facility ready for basic ministry use this fall.

What can YOU do? Continue to pray for God's direction in this project and for your part in it, continue to give, and if you haven't already volunteered at any of our local outreach ministries in place, make sure you participate!

URGENT!! Save the Life of Hamed Rouhinejad! Young Political Prisoner Dying From NO TREATMENT for his Multiple Sclerosis!!!

Hamed Rouhinejad is a young man in Iran who was arrested in May 2009, 40 days BEFORE the presidential elections in June, for leaving the country to work even though he was given permission upon returning.

Hamed is currently in SOLITARY CONFINEMENT.

Please read my previous petition for him so that you can understand all of the suffering he has been through during this past year - from threat of EXECUTION to a reduction of receiving 10 years in jail and exile.

http://www.petitiononline.com/hamedjan/petition.html

With Hamed having Multiple Sclerosis and being in prison without treatment, which authorities refuse to allow, he will die anyway from his continuous deteriorating health every day that he remains behind prison walls.

THE GOVERNMENT OF IRAN IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE LIFE OF HAMED ROUHINEJAD.

Please read the following exerpt of an interview with Hamed's father who has been desperately trying get help, pleading for someone to be able to save his son's life:

The family of Hamed Rouhinejad, the jailed Iranian student with Multiple Sclerosis (MS), has written numerous letters to various judicial officials like the Tehran Prosecutor and the judge on their son’s case. Officials are aware of Hamed’s deplorable condition, but no one has yet secured him a temporary medical prison leave. Hamid is currently held in exile in Zanjan prison where a medical facility is practically nonexistent.

The paralysis is spreading throughout Hamed Rouhinejad’s body. He has also lost 50% of his eye sight and hearing. He needs to be under immediate medical supervision. The Jaras website has conducted an interview with Hamed Rouhinejad’s father about his son’s most current condition:

Jaras: Mr. Rouhinejad, please tell us about your son’s latest condition?

Father: About three weeks ago I was finally able to visit him after begging the officials. He was in a very bad physical and emotional state. The MS disease that Hamed suffers from has caused him retinal and stomach problems. He even has difficulty passing urine.

His eyesight has also weakened. He told me that he is suffering from hearing impairment and his memory is not sharp anymore. He even told us to stop bringing him ampules and medicines for his injections, because time in solitary confinement has made the injections lose their effect.

The emotional pressures and stresses are causing my health to deteriorate. We told him to use the ampules for now and that God will help [him] and [his] problems will be resolved. Unfortunately, we have no more news of his condition. He is banned from receiving visits, and he does not even have the right to make phone calls. No official I have gone to has provided any convincing answers. They all say that the order is a judicial one and they are just following it.

Jaras: Do they not explain the reasoning behind the phone calls and the visit bans?

Father: Nobody replies [to our requests]. I went to the Zanjan Prosecutor, but he did not respond. I went to the Director General, but he had no convincing response either so he told me to go to Tehran. I went to the Tehran Ministry of Justice. They stated that they have no information and we need to go to the Tehran Prosecutor’s office [belonging to Abbas Jafari Dolatabadi]. He has not given us a response or agreed to see us. We went to the Supreme Court [or he may mean the the Court of Public Services Justice that is responsible for hearing the grievances of citizens against public offices], they told us to ask our son to write a grievance. We asked how someone who has no visitation rights can write a grievance. They repeatedly responded that they did not know. Unfortunately, nobody is taking responsibility and responding to us. In my view, they have the intention of either killing my son or handing him to us completely paralyzed.

Jaras: How is the medical care in prison?

Father: The only thing they did was take our son to Valiasr hospital in Zanjan. The doctor examined him and prescribed salexy [?] for injection. He has received it, but it had no effect since he is held in solitary confinement and he is under psychological pressure. MS is a disease that shows an increase in physical problems as the stress and distress increases. All the authorities are aware of this fact and yet they act in such a hostile manner.

Jaras: What is the status of his legal case?

Father: My son is now in Zanjan prison serving a ten-year sentence. He calls the prison a camp. He is currently held in solitary confinement. He has no visitation rights. They tell us that they will contact us so I don’t know when that will be; it could be one month, two months, six months, ten months…I don’t know.

Jaras: Given that he is serving a prison sentence, receiving visits and making phone calls are considered legal prisoner rights. Have you taken any steps in securing these rights?

Father: Wherever we go for these matters, they tell us they are acting as proxies and are just following orders. When we ask them to show us the order, the tell us to go for now, and they will let us know.

Jaras: If you have anything to say to authorities, here is an opportunity for them to hear your voice.

Father: I have said many times that the Leader of the Revolution has taught us that Islam is the religion of compassion and forgiveness. Which part of all the pain they impose on my son is compassion? Mr. Ahmadinejad, you speak of justice, justice, justice. Is it just and fair that you take a sick kid of whose problems you are aware to solitary confinement and ban his visitation rights? If this is justice, where is the injustice then? Chief of the Judiciary, tell us if this is justice, where is the injustice then? My son, with all his physical problems, is held in solitary confinement. And if the pressures continue, he can perish. Tell me, where is the real justice? This is not justice and fairness. You did not do justice to us and you did not administer it, and you will not do it. Intelligence officials who are hearing my voice right now, I swear to Fatemeh Zahra [Prophet Mohammad's daughter] to let the President and the Supreme Leader hear my voice so the doors of mercy may be open to us.

Jaras: Do you think that the Leader and Mr. Ahamadinejad are not aware of the prisons conditions?

Father: I don’t know, maybe, if the Intelligence officials who are hearing my voice let them know. If they are aware of the conditions, it is up to them and their God. I just implore them to investigate my son’s unfit condition. My son is ill and he is dying.

I had two partial strokes and suffer from back disc and heart conditions. Hamed’s sister and brother have developed nervous disesaes due to Hamed’s situation. In other words, all five members of my family are perishing. I travel the distance between Zanjan and Tehran, despite my physical ailments, but no official is providing me with any answers. You who claims to be pursuing justice, uphold justice and save my son from his gradual death.

My last word is that the President, the head of the Judiciary, the parliament speaker, and all the offiicals who are hearing my voice, wherever we go and on whatever door we knock, nobody responds to us. They have the intent to murder my son. I swear to God that they have intended to kill my son or render him paralyzed. I swear you to the verses of the Holy Qur’an that if you are a Muslim, if you have faith, don’t impose this slow and painful death on my son. Help his condition.

Right to Secular Education : Change UOttawa's motto !

In 1965 the University of Ottawa re-organized it's charter and became a secular institution in order to obtain government funding. Since then, the university has upheld it's commitment to a secular environment. However one glaring omission remains : the University of Ottawa's official motto.

"Deus Scientiarum Dominus Est"

This motto, which can be found on many official documents, signifies"God is the Lord of Knowledge".

Although the motto is not offensive to most major religions (a non-theist or a polytheist might take offence) and in itself does not actively deny UOttawa students' right to a secular education, the motto does formulate a strong and unequivocal statement that does not represent the orientations of this institution.

Finally, we wishes to re-affirm our belief that all students should be free to practise and follow their religious or spiritual orientations as they see fit and in the respect of others.

Therefore, this petition does NOT seek to promote hate towards any religion or its practitioners and seeks, on the contrary, to promote an environment of tolerance and social peace.

Kentucky Petition for Secession

This State under the United States Constitution and Federal Government has committed the following sins that require confession, and repentance pursuant unto a new Government under God:

i. Our rejection of God the Father and his mediatorial King, the Lord Jesus Christ, whose royal prerogative (Phil. 2:9-11, Dan. 2: 44-45, Dan. 7: 13-14, Rev. 1:5, Ps. 89:27, 1 Cor. 15:25, Luk. 22:29-30, Acts 5:29-31, Heb. 1:13, Acts 2: 29-35, Heb. 1: 8-9) has been treasonously rejected by our Constitution's Preamble (Which contradict Romans 13:1), Article 6 (Contradicts Exodus 18:21 ) and First Amendment of the Bill of Rights (A disestablishment principle utterly incompatible with the Bible and Christian History).

ii. Legal protection of idolatry and false worship within a nation that has been enlightened by the gospel, together with a refusal to establish the true reformed religion as the only established religion within that nation.

iii. Refusal to affirm in constitutional documents that God's moral law is the supreme law of the land (within a nation enlightened by the gospel), but to the contrary, the legal declaration of an immoral constitution to be the supreme law of the land.

iv. Inciting of racial agitation (Especially Black against White), through media and educational disinformation.

v. Legal protection of public blasphemy against the name of the Lord in all forms of media.

vi. Refusal to prohibit all unnecessary work on the Sabbath.

vii. Subjecting the children to the evils of the Roman Catholic Church and their perverted rapist Priests without proper prosecution.

viii. Legal endorsement of the slaughter and murder of unborn children.

ix. Legal protection of gross immorality, sexual perversion and heinous pornography.

x. Habitual theft through unjust and excessive taxes through inflated paper currency and the violation of a man’s natural right to his wages for personal service.

xi. Our involvement with wars of conquest.

This will be accomplished by defensive war if necessary. This war is not offensive, but defensive; not by falling upon persons to take away their lives, but a defending of our Religion and ourselves from all unjust assaults which is allowable to all men (Gen.14,1 Sam. 14:44-45, Prov. 24:11-12, Luke 22:36). We must resist this wicked government. It is our duty (Psa. 94:16). We are informed by Scripture that God punishes sinful nations with war (2 Chron. 16:9, 2 Sam. 12:10). We are informed by 2 Kings 21 that God brought complete destruction upon Jerusalem because of the sins of their King Manasseh. God held the people liable for the sins of their Government! Jeremiah the prophet warned those who would murder him, “But know ye for certain, that if ye put me to death, ye shall surely bring innocent blood upon yourselves, and upon this city, and upon the inhabitants thereof: for of a truth the LORD hath sent me unto you to speak all these words in your ears.” (Jer. 26:15) In fear of almighty God we seek to repent of our sins that more judgment does not come upon us than already has.

We do not fear the reproach of man. As the apostles stated, "Whether it be right in the sight of God to hearken unto you more than unto God, judge ye. For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard." (Acts 4:18-20) We do not fear death, as the Lord Jesus Christ commanded, "And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell." (Mat. 10:28) And we know that through much difficulty we shall prevail, "And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death." (Rev. 12:11)

No doubt, our enemies will try to rise up puppet representatives among us, to lead us astray and discredit our movement. When an Anglo or Japhethite Protestant Christian people have demanded a land and a Christian Government for themselves, evil white men have risen up in their ranks to lead their people to offensive violence to justify the existence of a reactionary movement which the media has mounted to support against us. Therefore, to protect ourselves, let it be clear: WE VEHEMENTLY REJECT OFFENSIVELY VIOLENT AND MALICIOUS ACTIONS AND ATTITUDES TOWARDS PEOPLES OF OTHER ETHNICITIES AND PEOPLES OF OTHER RELIGIONS. ANYONE ASSOCIATED WITH NEO-NAZI MOVEMENTS OR MALICIOUS KU KLUX KLAN GROUPS WE REJECT. AFTER OUR ESTABLISHMENT WE SEEK TO CONDUCT PEACE TREATIES AND COMMERCE WITH OUR BLACK AMERICAN FRIENDS AND OUR CATHOLIC FRIENDS.

The grievances which have brought us to this petition are bitter and if we are not careful can easily lead to malice and offensive violence. Let us never forget the wisdom of the Scriptures which says, "When a man's ways please the LORD, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him" (Pro 16:7) and as the Lord Jesus Christ said, "But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil." (Luk. 6:35) May God grant this mercy to us with lawful assemblies and non-violent petitions to both our representatives and our fellow man.

Eligible Petitioners:

- Voters in the United States, who desire to become citizens of The Republic of Kentucky

- Voters who are Citizens of the State of Kentucky

Ban ALL Religious Teaching From The Public School System

I dont beleive I will see this planet free of religion in my life time, but i can dream. Everyday the media reports more and more death and misery, with a lot of based in Religion.

9/11, The Gaza strip, the West Bank, it all speaks for itself.

A 27 yr old policeman was recently killed in a car bombing in Ireland because he was Catholic. Maybe we havent seen the last of this one. If two sides of the same religion, Christianity, want to kill each other, then what hope have we got. Every year thousands of teenagers commit suicide becaus they dont fit the (religious) system.

Take ALL religion out of our schools and let our kids be what they, and all they can be, without the influence of this 2000yr old rubbish.

Stop "Everybody Draw Mohammad Day"!

After Comedy Central cut a portion of a South Park episode following a death threat from a Muslim group, Seattle cartoonist Molly Norris wanted to counter the fear. She has declared May 20th "Everybody Draw Mohammed Day."

Norris told KIRO Radio's Dave Ross that cartoonists are meant to challenge the lines of political correctness. "That's a cartoonist's job, to be non-PC."
Producers of South Park said Thursday that Comedy Central removed a speech about intimidation and fear from their show after a Muslim group warned that they could be killed for insulting the Prophet Muhammad.

The group said it wasn't threatening South Park producers Trey Parker and Matt Stone, but it included a gruesome picture of Theo Van Gogh, a Dutch filmmaker killed by a Muslim in 2004, and said the producers could meet the same fate. The website posted the addresses of Comedy Central's New York office and the California production studio where South Park is made.

"As a cartoonist I just felt so much passion about what had happened I wanted to kind of counter Comedy Central's message they sent about feeling afraid," Norris said.

Norris has asked other artists to submit drawings of any religious figure to be posted as part of Citizens Against Citizens Against Humor (CACAH) on May 20th.
